Starting weight: 212 pounds
Goal: 160 pounds
Good habit: Spend at least 20 minutes each day writing in a journal of some form. I want to gather my thoughts at the end of the day in one place, document my successes and failures and my goals for the week, month, year. Also, I write a lot of cool, interesting and bizarre stories each day and it would be nice to catalog the experiences somewhere.
Bad habit: No sending texts or tweets or updating my Facebook status while driving. As clarification, I will still read messages that are sent to me depending on the situation, but I won't send any. In an effort to eliminate even the reading of messages while driving, I have downloaded the free version of drivesafe.ly (http://www.drivesafe.ly/) for my BlackBerry, which reads your texts and e-mails aloud while you are driving. I'll let you know how well it works.
And now for an example of what even one day of going hog wild can do to me:
Vanessa and I decided to play a mini-version of GO! during the break. I ended the nine-week GO! round at 208 pounds and finished the nine-day mini-version at 203.5 pounds when I weighed in Wednesday morning. Not too shabby, considering I weighed a little over 231 pounds 10 weeks ago.
Then, I decided to take Wednesday off before starting this new round today. And boy did I take a day off. It started at lunch when I ate a scrumptious Reuben sandwich piled high with thick cuts of corned beef and melted cheese and slathered with Russian dressing. Oh, and I had a cinnamon cranberry cookie and a chocolate chip cookie. So good. Then I had another chocolate chip cookie during an open house at work.
The gluttony didn't stop there. I nixed the idea of exercise entirely and for dinner I ate....wait for it...a whole large deep-dish pepperoni and black olive pizza from Domino's. (It was cheaper than ordering a medium, the Domino's guy told me.) I haven't done that in years and I don't think I should ever, EVER, do it again.
This morning I fully understood why. One day after weighing in at 203.5 pounds, I tipped the scale this morning to 212 pounds. SERIOUSLY!?! I GAINED 8.5 POUNDS IN ONE DAY!!!!
It's true kids. When I don't treat myself right, my body responds accordingly and quickly. So guess what...I'm back on track and ready to stomp some serious booty.
LET'S GET IT ON! GO!
Geoff I am curious have you lost the 8.5 lbs. you gained in one day? I hope it goes off as fast as it went on.
ReplyDeleteThis morning I was down to 206.6 pounds from 212 pounds, so I've already lost my 1 percent for the week with four days left to play. I went way overboard on my day off. I'm not typically that out of control.
