Yes, my prediction was accurate. This week was a whole different story. Even after I got home and back to my 'routine' I struggled this week. Part of it is this spring cold I have been suffering from for over a week.
There are a few things from my trip that reminded me that I have made some really good lifestyle changes that have become part of my routine. In the past, for me, road trips=diet coke, cheetos and licorice. I can honestly say at no point during the trip did it even cross my mind to purchase gas station grub. Typically, we didn't even enter the gas station, just paid at the pump.
We stopped at Trader Joe's (similar to Whole Foods) and I stocked up on bananas, apples, clementines and soft oatmeal raisin cookies. Oh yeah, and wine and cheese. LeRoy was with me, what do you expect?
Geoff and I also talked about how much easier it is to travel when you aren't chasing your next high. Read: diet coke. I have been know to pack dc in the suitcase. There was none of that this time. I can honestly say I am to the point were I go more that a day without thinking about diet coke.
I've been doing good with my bad habit of no texting. Surprisingly, the new habit of reading or blogging 20 minutes a day has been a lot harder! So weird, its something I enjoy.
